    Hole: 7 | Length: 150yrds | Club Used: 7-Iron

Just hit my first Hole-in-One yesterday! I am a mediocre golfer ...just picked up the game in June 2008 and only recently broke a 100 with a best ever score of 90. Even a blind squirrel can find the occasional nut!.

My friend and I decided to take our Sons out for a Canadian Thanksgiving foursome of Golf. The 7th hole at White Oaks Golf Club is a Par 3 with a deep gully in front and trouble behind so my friend and I were commenting we will need to be accurate. I pulled out my 7-iron and hit it pure. My friend commented that he thought I was going to go over the back but I noted "I don't know ...it got a lot of vertical I think I'm going to be okay. The ball came down almost vertical and looking at the ball mark it hit about 8inches behind and to the left of the hole. From the tee it was a 2 stage celebration ...I saw the ball hit the green right by the pin and was raising my hands then we saw it trickle then drop from sight. Our shouts had the foursome on the nearby tee ducking as they thought we were shouting "fore"!

Achieved a hole-in-ones on 2009-09-15 @ HOCKLEY VALLEY RESORT located in Orangeville, ON, Canada

    Hole: 17 | Length: 138 | Club Used: 8-Iron

I am the coach of our high school golf team. Our team went for a sanctioned preliminary round prior to our regional championships on Sept 15 at Hockley Valley Resort. I was playing the worst round I've played in years, shooting an honest 59 on the front nine. I started the back nine with a birdie on the par 3, 10th hole and the game progressively improved. On the scenic 17th hole which happens to be my favourite hole at this wonderful course, my student and our best player pulled out an 8-iron and hit it dead centre to the pin but long. Since I know I hit my irons about five to ten yards less than him, I took the same club and struck the ball perfectly. My student cited that I "attacked the pin" and while we watched the ball, I told him that I thought it was going long like his ball did. Well it did land about six feet passed the hole and then it spun backwards until the ball disappeared into the hole. I was in shock and my student went absolutely ballistic. We were laughing our heads off and in the laughing frenzy I managed to lose my 8-iron in the bushes in front of the tee box. All this time, a female student golfer stood on the ladies tees about 30 yards in front of us and 30 feet below us, as this hole is on a multi-elevated tee box. She had no idea why we were laughing and cheering so much because she was not paying attention to the shot. When we told her she didn't believe us until we got to the hole and I removed the ball from the cup. Ironically, the ball I used was a Maxfli Rev Solid, which is a ball that is not supposed to spin whatsoever. I have never used that ball before, it was just in my bag and I was short on balls, so I thought I would use miscellaneous balls to complete my awful round. I shot 45 on the back nine and with a total score of 104. For such a horrible round, it was the best golf moment of my life and one that I certainly do not think will be duplicated.

  • Peter Degenstein of Okotoks, AB, Canada

Achieved a hole-in-ones on 2009-09-10 @ SHADOW MOUNTAIN GOLF COURSE located in Cranbrook, BC, Canada

    Hole: 16 | Length: 153 | Club Used: 9-Iron

A beautiful day in September during the Dirty Dozen's annual golf tournament. Hole was setup for the closest to the pin prize. There was already a marker very close to the pin. My golfing partners were Bob Gehlen and Tom Kinch. Bob said that I should hit 9 Iron so I did. As soon as I looked up to see where the shot went I lost the ball in the sun. Bob saw it and said it was close. When we got to the green there was no ball on the green at all. We thought this was strange so we looked in the hole. There it was. Tim's name was on the closest to the pin, and it was about 2 feet away, but not good enough on this day. Shadow Mountain provided the hole flag to me as a momento. Thank you so much to Shadow Mountain for a wonderful day.
