Come "Golf Kelowna"
Kelowna Springs Golf Club is the shortest of the Golf Kelowna golf courses stretching out to a very enjoyable 6,200 yards. The course is well maintained and a beautiful treat to play. There is a fair amount of water and sand out there to contend with but using computer terms this is a user-friendly golf course and it is high on my must play list.
 The first hole is 379 yards long and it is very friendly looking. The difficulty on this hole comes when you get greenside. There is a large swale running right to left across the green making putting difficult. But as long as you get the ball on to the right level you should have at least a chance for a par here. Your first good birdie opportunity comes on the par three 4th hole. A fun hole, one that let's you think about making a birdie 2 but keeps you on edge trying to avoid making a double bogey five.
Do you have a cannon and an urge to fire it? Then fire when ready on the 297 yard par 4 eighth. The eighth hole at Kelowna Springs is a slight dogleg right, dead flat and drivable hole. There is sand on the fairway and greenside, but not a lot, so let the cannon roar.
Enjoy the first 15 holes because this course finishes hard and the best example of that is the par 4 seventeenth. The 17th at Kelowna Springs taps out to 408 yards long and is ranked as the number one handicap hole. The fairway is a dogleg right and water skirts all the way up to and in front of the green. A good tee ball will put you some where between 170 yards and 200 yards out and guessing about either firing into a small water guarded green or laying up with a wedge to the short left and trusting you short game. |
